I have a co worker that has a savage 840 chambered in a 222 and now I think I need one. First of all I need to know what other calibers it comes in( I hope they made one for the 223) and any other info. on this rifle. Thanks.
I can give you some info on the Model 340. The 840 is the same thing, but my Blue Book only lists the 340. Mfg from 1950 to 1985. It came in .222 Rem, .223 Rem or .30-30 Winchester. Barrel length was either 22 or 24 inches. A 100% gun is worth around $300. There was also a Model EL340C that came with an aperature rear sight. Production on that model ended in 1960. I would guess the 340/840 in .223 would have a pretty slow rifle twist, so you would be limited to the lighter bullets, under 62 grains.
