Laws are written in Austin (bunch of hippies and liberals) by politicians (many of which are spineless) who are more concerned with public appearance than rights.

I supported the OC rallies for a long time. Believed in them. Eventually I realized that it would only take one or two idiots to give the media everything they need to set the narrative, and one or two idiots showing up was pretty much guaranteed. The tactic wasn't working. It was detrimental.

The fact that this is being pushed by the AJ/info wars crowd makes it pretty much guaranteed to attract exactly those who we don't need there. Just look at the OP. It tells you exactly the mindset that will only cause more problems.

I'm a UT grad. Stupidest thing I've ever heard of.

It would be EXTREMELY cool if you could sneak a gadsen or come and take it flag or even an infowars flag and flap it from inside the campus off a high window, that would probably go viral and trust me if it doesn't mean such a big deal to you well you can feel good you've made a lot of people very happy, it's going to be worth it please! I realized what you're talking about now, yes Campus Carry doesn't take effect until next august.

I am not sure if it's on the UT grounds necessairly it may be just over the street, either IW has a good reason or has researched other laws but they wouldn't be stupid enough to do what you're fearing about.

A group like MomsDemandAction can have their rally and they will get a little attention locally, on campus, and maybe on some local media, but let a pro-gun group show up and cause a disturbance and all of a sudden there is a lot more attention drawn to the event. However, the liberal press will never side with a pro-gun group so MDA will get a lot of positive press that may go state wide and maybe even nation wide while the pro-gun group will be portrayed as radical idiots. I have seen groups standing on the street corners holding their rifles in one hand and an open carry sign in the other hand and I have watched the videos of people being confronted by the police because they were openly carrying a weapon of some sort and none of those instances made me want to open carry or made me feel proud that someone was out there standing up for our rights.

A gun whether carried concealed or openly is frightening to a lot of people because guns have become an emotional issue. Today, people are uneducated about our constitutional rights, they are paranoid, and they see anyone with a weapon as a potential bad guy. Folks like InfoWars only stir up emotions and make it harder for the rest of us to overcome the misunderstandings they cause. There are many reasons why I will rarely carry openly but one of the reasons is because people like this cause so many bad feelings with the public. I think BG1960 was pretty accurate when he called them Attention Whores.

Based on your limited grasp of the English language I am highly skeptical of you and all your buddies being in charge of a protest where loaded weapons are present. What you are suggesting absolutely does more harm than good. Consider the risks vs the rewards, there is no reward substantial enough to justify the risk associated with a bunch of jackwagons who listen to Alex Jones waving guns in people's faces! The media has created an image that gun owners are radical idiots who wave their guns around (like idiots) while spouting off about "rights" and "liberty".......all your doing is making that image come to life!

Indeed. Now a countermarch with signs, wearing decent clothing, and armed with statistics for any media types (CHL's least likely to be criminals compared to X, requirements for CHL etc) would be fine.
