You may have seen this news article yesterday. It looks like Obama may be trying to take our guns using the Attorney General. Basically, our AG has blamed the drug gang violence in Mexico on the American freedom to buy and own firearms. It doesn't matter that it is already illegal to sell guns to Mexican drug dealers and runners, we must pass a ANOTHER law to keep law abiding US citizens from owning military looking rifles, so the Mexicans can't get their hands on them. Just thought I would share this news article and let you all form your own opinion. Cheers

What we REALLY need to do is figure out how our WASRs and AR15s have 'fun switches' installed just by crossing the border.

Those cartels are buying or stealing real "assault rifles" for their use, not using our neutered WASRs and AR15s.

How do you know when a politician is lying?
    Their mouth is moving.

Yep. And there's already 1-2 threads on this as well.

BTW, I don't for a minute believe that Mexico is elevating this "issue" without outside influence. That crap's been going on down there for a lot longer than that the media and politicians have been talking about it.

The best quote from the article:

Paton cited Mexico's far stricter gun laws as proof that new domestic laws in the United States won't deter criminals intent on trafficking arms.
"It's not going to solve the problem you have with M-16s and AK-47s; they're already banned and they're already going into Mexico at a feverish pace," Paton told FOXNews.com. "The day they start taking their border security as serious as we do, Mexico will cut down tremendously on its amount of guns."

Well said. I read an article just the other day on CNN, they had a reporter there traveling doing a story on the cartel violence. He went to a small town near Juarez which was basically the HQ for the Juarez Cartel. When people saw him asking questions a group of trucks pulled up and guys got out with holstered handguns (which are supposed to be illegal) that had long clips (assuming Glocks with the zombie killer magazines). Basically the message was sent to leave town.

If they walk around town carrying their guns and rifles in Mexico how is the US to blame?

The Police Chief of Zuataneo (sp?) stated in an LA Times article that his officers are armed with AR15 and AKS rifles and feel completely outgunned by the cartel gunmen.

AR15 and AKS are semis... so why ban the very same rifles in the US?

I can't find the LATimes article, but this one shows the lie behind how many of these guns come form US in the first place.
