Do you have any four track units left?

I've got a couple of STI pistols, and they were great for the price. I bought my son a Spartan for his college graduation, and it was a terrific pistol as well. Parts of it were made in the Philippines, but fitted at STI. Put one side-by-side with a Rock Island and you could quickly tell the difference.

For whatever reason, STI refused to consider their customer base. They want to define what that base is supposed to be. In past years, a couple of ranges near here had "STI Day" events. You could hear customers one after the other complaining to the reps about the sights that come on their pistols and how hard it was to order parts. They'd nod and point out that Dawson did a lot of work on their pistols. Customers would often ask if they used crappy sights as a way to force people to go to Dawson. None of those ranges carry STI products today, and they will tell you quietly that it was 100% because of the factory sales reps. They just couldn't work with them at all. STI wanted to be known for competition guns and everyone else could go to hell.

When the name change came out, I looked at their web site. All 9mm. Heresy for any real 1911 aficionado. They seem to be trying to find a niche that nobody else wants so they don't have to compete.

Sad. Is it my imagination, or do I hear someone quietly playing "Taps" in the distance?

You'll need some packs of matches to go with those 8-tracks. As I recall, you had to have a pack or two to stuff under the cassette to keep it from double tracking. Worst. Music. Technology. Ever.

So I heard......waited 5 months for a gun that was supposed to ship in under 3. One excuse after another.....finally threw up my hands and got a refund.
