you got it all wrong its >armalite ar15>601>602(XM16)>603(XM16E1)>604(M16)>614(M16A1)

Did Armalite actually manufacture any AR-15’s for sale? Or just make prototypes?

My understanding was Colt manufactured all the AR-15/M16’s and that Colt made them at first with a 1:14 twist and that is what Malaysia got in 1959 from Colt. And that when the XM16’s first went to Vietnam they were 1:14 as well. Based on real world results in Vietnam I thought the decision to go to a 1:12 for M16 was made for the Military contract.

There seems to be a lot of gray areas or redacted information that leaves a lot of questions about somethings. Even books on the AR-15/M16 I read years ago had different information.

Armalite had some production. They primarily wanted to sell production rights, but still needed guns to show to people.

It's real difficult to accurately pin down information on AR's. Rolling changes in production, guns being updated by armorers, bad/old info...

Its not that simple, there is no "XM16"

The M16 and M16A1 were adopted at the same time (i was wrong about the order earlier). I'm not counting Colt model numbers, just Gov't model numbers.

I have used them as full auto lowers with MILES gear as a red team trainer. Multiple xm16e1 lowers were floating around in that system with permanent mods to the mag well to block live rounds from getting to the chamber.

I never thought to snap a picture of the roll mark but here is what it looks like.

You seem to not understand, there is no XM16. while we're at it, there's no M1917 Enfield either.

Show me an XM16 rollmark. Just one. Show me one reference on a military document that mentions an XM16.

Fact is there is no XM16, bever has been, even on paper. You posted a pic of a 602, show me one document that calls it an XM16

You've made a claim that you can't support, using only what you've learned from arfcom's retro sub.

Considering all the documentation available on the M16 that didn't require FOIA requests, there's not one single mention of an XM16. Just people giving a fake retroactive name to some internal Colt designation. (Which has totally never happened before.)

Let's end this, we'll come back as soon as you present actual facts, and not just a picture of a colt 602.

I’ve been told that some of the newer Mini14’s are marked “5.56”.

    Same cast receivers ?

    Does anyone here know?

    ?
I just looked on the Ruger website and found both Mini-14 Ranch models listed as 5.56
    Mini-14® : Ranch Rifle
    Model 05801 & 05802
    5.56 NATO - Autoloading Rifle

Yes, that’s what I’ve heard, too.

So, are the receivers the exact same, except for the writing ? IDK, just asking.

I’d like to shoot 5.56 NATO in my oder SS Mini-14, marked “.223”,

It'll be fine. I'm no fan of ruger or the mini, but they do a real good job on their barrels.
