Yeah, that I knew. Then what the hell are these people talking about and why has nobody else mentioned that fact? I know the elections are run by the states, but who counts the votes? That, I don't know.

Interesting threads today. There are plenty of people living in fear of what their government (esp. federal gov't) is planning. This particular administration feeds heavily into that paranoia because, quite honestly, they are doing a lot of things that we should worry about.

On the other hand we have txinvestigator who completely trusts the government and slams any post questioning their integrity.

As a rule, the internet is a bad place to get facts. It's been demonstrated many times that someone can post the craziest made up information and it will not only begin appearing as "fact", but will take on a life of it's own with new crazy stuff added. Some of these get resurrected after years of lying dormant.

A lot of companies do business world-wide, so it's a fairly easy thing to tie them to something unsavory. Want to say something bad about General Electric? You can simply say that they do business with the communists in China and leave out the other 150 countries they're doing business with.

Study history for any amount of time and you will learn that you should never entirely trust the government. If they are not being watched closely, they will eventually do bad things. Power corrupts. Question their motives, but also question the information you're being fed about their motives.

The Obama Administration? I trust them as far as I can throw a piano. Congress? This Congress at least, I trust even less.

That is 100% wrong. I just recognize bullshit when I see it.

Obamacare is a path to socialism, and terrible for our country. SS agents getting hookers while on assignment, Fast and Furious, etc.
I just have a good nose, and some things just don't pass the smell test.

    Whiskey:
Voting equipment varies by county across the state, but in general the votes are tabulated by the machine that scans the paper ballot and the electronic voting booths have a 'controller' unit that does the same. The tabulation happens as each voter casts their ballot. When the polls close, the totals for each polling place are turned into the county elections people and tabulated again. There are party and often representatives from the candidates observing the process. Eventually the vote is certified by the Texas Secretary of State office. I know this because I have worked as a election clerk and election judge for the past few years in my county.

Another suggestion; go volunteer to be an elections clerk in your county. They always need people. Real life experience with the process will better inform you than fear and paranoia from the internet. You must have a mindset that you will serve all the voters that come into your polling place and not just the ones that agree with you. Responsible people need to step up and work the polls or else the community agitators will do it.

If it's posted on the Internet it has to be true, and I verified that things on the Internet have to be true by looking it up on the Internet....
