The nearest neighbor and I keep the area around our strip of mailboxes clean of most trash.

There is a tire in the ditch about 50 yards from the mailboxes. The County workers have mown over it twice, shredding it a bit more each time.

The guy on the mower said that wasn't his job. The lady at the precinct office said they don't pick up "hazardous waste" and I should call the State.

The only reason neither of us has picked it up it's because the county dump charges six or seven dollars a piece per tire.

When I bought my place, there were at least a dozen tires strewn about the property, and I've picked all of them up and have been taking them to a yearly "free disposal", but the limit is 4 tires per year.

That tire on the County Road is gonna have to wait a bit longer.

Heck, after reading this article, I may pick that tire up and take it to Jasper the next time I head that way!

Good on this gentleman for staying busy and cleaning things up!
I'll. Hope hes not on disability or they may come a knocking. They dont get that a few minutes of activity to try and keep some semblance of health isnt the ability to do gainful employment.

I would pick it up and put it on the truck of the people mowing then film them throwing it back off.

I try to keep my little stretch of State Hwy 63 E as clean as I can. I even have a little trash picker upper doo dad, so I don't have to touch it. Based on my roadside observations Busch is the beer of choice in Newton county.

Stacked tires filled with dirt or sand makes a good backstop. Back in the day, there was a live fire multi-room "house" set up at Oak Ridge this way.

I picked up the tire and hung it over an "intersection ahead" sign approaching the nearest intersection of a County and a State road.

The neighbor and I have a bet about how long it will hang there while the the County and State try to say the other should dispose of it.

I came VERY close to being hired as the superintendent of Jasper ISD right before all that racial stuff happened with the city council and a bunch of them were recalled.

Boy, did I dodge the silver bullet, or what!!!?
