A native New Yorker was he, born in Oneonta and got much of his start in Greenwich Village in NYC and in New Orleans, LA. He was one of those NY liberals who moved, like iron shavings toward a strong magnet, to Austin. He was in the National Guard but allegedly went AWOL and then changed his name from Ronald Clyde Crosby to Jerry Jeff Walker in 1966 which makes me wonder if he was trying to avoid service in Vietnam or avoid being busted for having gone AWOL. His music was pretty good though and in that regard alone he will be missed by me. RIP.

You know what me and Jerry Jeff have in common? We both like just kicking hippy's asses and raisin’ hell.

Gonna have to find a new partner now.

One of my daughters favorite Jerry Jeff songs to sing out loud when we are out and about.
Probably more so because it's the only time she could ever get away with a cuss word and make Daddy laugh, but I'll take it.

    RIP Jerry Jeff.
