Congrats, now for the hard part.....the wait. Sorry can't give you a recent time as I've had mine for a while. You should be doing the Wally-Walk soon enough.

Starting the process on -line and prepaying does help speed things along I believe, but the clock doesn't start until you take your class and mail in the packet, so the sooner you can do that the better.

    3/9/09 DPS received packet
    3/13/09 DPS cashed Check
4/14/09 Status changed to "Processing Application"
    6/29/09 Status still "Processing Application"

113 days and counting! Latest excuse is that they are waiting on my BC from Harris County. Get ready for 4-6 months of frustration.

No class scheduled yet...I was going to wait for the pre-paid packet to arrive, then get to a class.

You don't have to. You can go to class and your instructor can give you a packet. You use from that packet the fingerprint cards, passport photo holder and affidavits.

That way, when your DPS packet arrives you can replace the FP cards, photo holder and affidavits from that packet with the ones you already filled out and send it back to DPS right then.......

Just got the packet in the mail. Who has a good recommendation for the class? I am NE side outside the beltway. I am aware of Carters Country in Spring, the soon to be reopening Sportsman Outlet on 1960 near 59, and the range on 59 just outside the 610 loop. All suggestions and comments are welcome!

It looks as if, it is on average, approx 100 -110 day mail/processing wait for Fort Bend Co. As of the Mar '09 CHL DPS traffic.
