The Zeiss Orion 80 Fero Z51 Night vision scope is German made by Zeiss/Eltro, and is still in use by select units of the German Bundeswehr. This Starlight night vision scope features XX1211 and XX1340 image intensifier tubes, flash protection, reticle adjustments, focusing knob, on/off button, shade control knob, reticle brightness control and come in the original hard shell case. The scope includes an HK-made G3 Claw mount with adapter plate, MG3 Lafette Tripod mount, PZF3/PZ44 Grenade Launcher mount and can be mounted on a picatinny-style rail with the use of an A.R.M.S #7 Stanag to Picatinny adaptor. These Surplus kits are in excellent working condition and operate using 2 C batteries. All Kits include the scope, mounts, mounting tool, operators manual written in German, and may also include German C batteries.
The electronics and vison are perfect, but the photomultiplier tube needs to be fastened in the scope. If you stand it up on end for second, everything is perfect. Leaning forward allows something in the optics to move. This would be an excellent addition to someone that needs to tinker a little.
In original military case, with external condition is excellent.
    $500.00 + Shipping if any.
The HK claw mount is worth half of the asking price. If you have a Panzerfaust, or a machine gun, the additional included mounts will be useful. This scope is considered a gen 1+, because it has two photomultipliers in series. Research it on your own.

Can you tell by handling how big of a component is shifting? I am interested but worried if shipped it might beat itself up too much.

It moves very little. Holding it vertically always corrects the focus. The case is built for the military, so it is very well protected. It took me quite a while to even notice something might not be right. The subsystems all function as expected. It may just be my unfamiliarity with it that makes me even think it has a problem. If anything my educated guess is a spacer is loose, or possibly a recoil absorbing surface.

For some reason I thought it was disconnecting from contact, so its actually fully moving out of focus of lenses, interesting.

Other than that issue, does it seem like the tubes are in good condition without spots or anything?
