These are my personal opinions, based on 24 yrs. in the area.

Young's Guns - Large selection of all kinds of guns. Fun to browse. Knowledgeable clerks (most of the time). Prices are retail +/- but they are willing to deal to a point, especially on a used gun.

Hill Country Arms Inc. - Not a great deal of stock at the moment. Decent one man shop (he's the gunsmith/owner). Indicated to me a week or so ago he was not taking new work while trying to catch up. Worth a browse but it won't take long.

Arrowhead Gun Shop LLC - Worst gun shop I've ever been in regarding service, price, honesty, and attitude. Just my opinion. I won't darken his door.

Central Texas Gun & Pawn and Gold Cup Jewelry and Pawn - Mostly pawn shops with a small selection of guns. Worth taking a look to see what might have shown up. Friendly when I've been there but it's been a while.

Gibson's - Fairly large selection of guns (most of the time) but not as many as Young's. Prices are mostly retail but there are deals every now and then. They have some reloading equipment and supplies. Ammo is like most gun shops, hit and miss. Friendly place. Rest of the store is a treasure trove of every kind of item found in an old style general store; clothes, shoes, hardware, tools, kitchen supplies, etc., etc. Fun to browse.

Well, Charlie knows I'm here in Kville now!
BTW, if you want super prices and personal service, try Texian Guns in Kerrville. Ben Harding runs the place out of his house with an FFL and knowledge, and has the best prices I've seen for years. Good transfer and shipping rates; little or no stock but will usually find what you want. He does shows pretty regularly too.

I'm a Kerr-villian also. I concur with Charlie on the local shops. I don't go into Arrowhead at all. If your interested KNS in Fredericksburg is a interesting place also but, only open Tues and Thurs.
