We use to catch those in New Mexico and make them fight tarantulas. I was reminded of them again in Iraq. Vinegaroons look like black camel spiders. Which are also not spiders.

Thank you for caring enough to set it straight.

I always liked the fictional story of Judge Roy Bean, in the movie, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, played by Paul Newman. Really good movie. He referred to Langtry in the movie as Vinegaroon. Which i think is one of the few times it's been referenced by the original name, before it was changed to Langtry. Popular myth was Bean named it Lantry after Lillie Langtry, but it was named for some railroad person with that name by one of the railroad companies. The saloon the Jersey Liillie was named after her though. The judge was a huge fan her.

Funny, did you hear all the talk of "you can eat the cicadas" as meat was starting to get scarce in parts of the U.S?

    It was amusing.

However, I appreciated the warnings about staying away if you are allergic to shellfish. That bit of knowledge was enlightening considering that I am deathly allergic to shellfish.
