Kimber Polymer 45

Anyone ever owned one? I always assumed they were just polymer 1911's, never knew they were double stacks. Bought a used one online, don't have it yet but just curious what others' experiences are.

The whole gun. They had several models of it apparently. That one is the Pro Carry Stainless

IIRC, BUL of Israel made the frame & magazine for Kimber. Kimber did the rest.

I believe that was true for the first half of production, then Kimber took them in-house for a few years. They never really sold well and had some reported issues with frame cracks that didn’t help their popularity as I recall.

I figured there had to be some kind of issue for them to have had such a short life.

I have one. Bought it 20 or more years ago. Wilson Combat was selling the same platform about 10 years ago. Both sure seemed to be the same as the Bul to me.

Anyway, I haven’t had any issues with it at all. But then again, I didn’t shoot it a whole lot since I had 30 other Kimbers at the time (90’s vintage with good quality).
