The absurdity of the law has been pointed out before... The analogy I've always heard was that if you host Thanksgiving at your house and have one of your guests carve the turkey, then they just committed a felony.
Depends a lot on which turkey they carved, don't it?

Reading the law carefully, the criminal element is in what is being done and where it is being done. A person skinning game or working with a machete would have no problem as long as he/she was not carrying it on their person.

As passed and signed into law, a juvenile's proper use of a long blade is not legislated-but his carrying while committing a crime, possession while committing a crime, or carrying on or about his person are addressed.

Wonder if this Weiland knife of mine would be legal to carry?

Definition of "knuckles" from PC 46.01:

"(8) "Knuckles" means any instrument that consists of finger rings or guards made of a hard substance and that is designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with a fist enclosed in the knuckles."

Maybe next session!!! That is one beautiful knife, and well-thought-out design.

Hmm, I wonder if a basket or knuckle bow would legally be knuckles? It's designed to protect the hand not inflict injury, but it could certainly be "adapted" to do so.

wow! That kukri with the trench knife handle is an odd duck. I'd expect something like that from a Brit, but not an American. He must have had an interesting life.

Here's a new carry knife I got today. A recurved subhilt fighter with an 8" blade of 01/L6 Damascus. Made by Phillip Patton. Can't believe he's just an apprentice. The fit and finish is superb. He made the sheath too.

Phillip' work is outstanding. Here's a camp/chopper he made six months ago. As usual, pics don't do it justice.
