In simple terms. I have seen this term used before, but what exactly is a NEO CON. I think of my self as a Conservative, I tend to like Tea Party conservatism more then Libertarian. But I don't know what this expression means?

NeoCons are big gov't, foreign interventionist, "conservatives" They are essentially fascists in that they are nationalistic and for big social programs along with corporate cronyism. Dubya was textbook of a NeoCon. Think "patriotic" and "pro-military" but Democrat everywhere else.

The left just generally hurls it at any Republican they disagree with though.

Hey guys, think about Bloomberg. He hates the NRA and anyone who owns a gun. He has pledged $50 MILLION towards displaying how much he hates us! Imagine that.....spending $50 MILLION Dollars just to show how much he hates us!

The best part is that Bloomberg is such a Putz...or a F up as I would term it, he will piss that money away with inept management. Look what that turd did with his anti gun bus tour and the paid Sandy Hook snivelers he shipped around the nation. Total BUST!

Hell, if I had $50 million, I'd at least buy a new Harley and maybe a Toyota Camry.

    flash,
i love your posts. Right now I am trolling. I don't want anyone taking a dump on the NRA and I don't want to give the guy a thread arguing. I just want to cut the brakes off it and let it roll off of a tall bridge.

for $50mil that retard bloomberg could have bought a few Harley's, camrys, and a fleet of jet skis and meals out at fancy restaurants for the wife and him. He would've had change for a fishing guide to take him out.

Anyone who has voted for someone republican just because the democrat candidate is worse was a neocon that day at the poll. It was for the good of the country.

Getting called a neocon by a liberal should be a point of pride. It's like saying "ya I really hate the furthest left bull feces that the democrat party parades around as (candidates)"

This is definitely an amateurish, idiotic article, but not troll, There are different kinds of libertarians. This article appears to come from an extreme/idealistic one bordering on anarchism, an Ayn Rand follower. It is written at the top of the article

Views of the world from an Objectivist who embraces Anarcho-Capitalism

"Objectivism" is a term coined by Ayn Rand. An atheist and believer of an ego-centric "selfish" morality, she is known in philosophical circles as a subpar/amateurish philosopher.

The type of libertarian most on this forum would consider themselves would be the Tea Party, Constitutionalist variety. Best typified by Ron Paul/Rand Paul, maybe Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell, Lew Rockwell, Thomas DiLorenzo. A believer in Capitalism and limited government but also strong constitutional and legal system that emphasizes individual liberties and property rights.

I read the article. Nothing wrong with pointing out areas you don't agree with the NRA, like the endorsement of neocon ideas. But to criticize a company like Sig Sauer for having LE contracts shows the idiocy and biasness of this article, especially when Sig is one of the most civilian/consumer friendly companies in the firearms world.

Now's the time for every conservative and libertarian to unite not divide. Even Ralph Nader is calling for his people to unite with the tea party libertarians because he realizes how dangerous the Democrats are at this point.

Neocons believe in things like invading Iraq. Conservatives dont. Also read about paleocons.

And just like that darrenlobo is gone.

He only comes here to post links to his blog. He's just here to hit and run and could careless about this community. Just ignore his post and never click on his links and he will go away. He is trying to build up readership for the blog and clicking over to it does just that. He doesn't care if you agree or not as can be seen by his participation after many of the posts he starts.

I came from NY. NRA bashing is a daily topic there. Only a small percentage of people there belong to the NRA. Not ironically gun rights suck in NY. If you think the NRA is the enemy you need to do a little research. A national gun ban would have passed after the Adam Lanza shooting had the NRA not existed.

An assault weapons ban WITH confiscation for good measure.

When you get home today, give your AR a big hug from the NRA.

I was totally committed to buying a rifle today but put a pencil to it and couldn't make it happen. I believe that we must USE our rights or we will lose them!

On the same topic, we have a special election for state Senator and after I post this, I'll head to the early voting polls. My candidate is "A" rated by the NRA and is an Expert pistol marksman and rifle marksman. I did my research and I'm gonna vote.

The small elections and primaries are where we can make changes. After that, the options are slim pickins. VOTE!

NRA life member here. Maybe not the perfect gun rights organization, but politicians fear them and they have the stroke it takes.

There's no need to take my criticism of the NRA so hard. I'm not a liberal nor am I being paid to write. Matter of fact, if Bloomie were paying me he'd probably want his money back given my pro-gun rights record.

Had the NRA decided to stick to the gun issue I wouldn't have written about them. When they venture into a wider neoconservative agenda they're inevitably going to alienate some people, like libertarians, who are otherwise allies fighting for gun rights. This is the mistake the socialist peace movement made. Instead of narrowly focusing it was peace + this that & the other leftist idea. Then they couldn't figure out why they didn't have widespread support.

'Neocons...are impatient with the Hayekian notion that we are on "the road to serfdom." Neocons do not feel that kind of alarm or anxiety about the growth of the state in the past century, seeing it as natural, indeed inevitable...Because they tend to be more interested in history than economics or sociology, they know that the 19th-century idea, so neatly propounded by Herbert Spencer in his "The Man Versus the State," was a historical eccentricity.' --Irving Krystal, The Neoconservative Persuasion
