Manufacture of armor piercing ammo? That’s gonna leave a mark.

huummmm, more evidence confirming the fact that Paddock really was serious about taking out the aviation fuel tanks that were hit at McCarren Int'l Airport......

That he found someone selling AP ammo and used it?

Contraband items are easy to find if you want them. It's why gun control doesn't work. It also doesn't mean that everyone he spoke to or purchased from was part of a nefarious plot.

That said, it's also not the least bit surprising that investigators would want to prevent every lead they have from being public so suspects don't haul ass. Could there have been others involved? Sure.

Could he have done it himself? Yep, wouldn't be that difficult in a free country.

This is what I posted in the comments section of the article on the recent arrest on the Yahoo web site.

27 CFR § 478.11 defines armor piercing ammunition as: "Armor piercing ammunition. Projectiles or projectile cores which may be used in a handgun and which are constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or full jacketed projectiles larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile. The term does not include shotgun shot required by Federal or State environmental or game regulations for hunting purposes, frangible projectiles designed for target shooting, projectiles which the Director finds are primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes, or any other projectiles or projectile cores which the Director finds are intended to be used for industrial purposes, including charges used in oil and gas well perforating devices.

Please note the phrases in the second sentence "which may be used in a handgun" and later "intended for use in a handgun". This would seem to omit the calibers in question in the LV shooting. Also, if the DOJ chooses to go beyond the current legal definition of armor piercing ammunition, then many shooters who reload solid of FMJ bullets are in violation of a twisted interpretation of the law.

This language is specific to the media hysteria over the alleged "cop killer" bullets and the introduction of the 5.7mm handguns that would allegedly penetrate a protective vest.

I see no way they can do more than drag this respectable guy through the mud and bankrupt him with attorney fees.

I don't know if that "person of interest" really had anything to do with Paddock, or why it matters. My wonder is, with all the cameras around Vegas, why haven't we seen much footage of Paddock before the shooting? I don't believe the casinos can withhold evidence if the feds really wanted it, yet they seem to be in more control. A lot doesn't add up to me, we usually see a lot more on other cases of mass shootings.

I know, if someone told me Vegas had more cameras than any other city in the world, I wouldn't doubt them. Yet nobody has much footage of him? I don't buy it.

And all setup with facial recognition as well. Granted, its to catch casino cheats but works to ID (or at least follow specific people) virtually anyone who steps into a casino.

They also have a lot of cameras outside and in the hotel areas. You can see a lot of them if you look, but then those are the obvious ones.
