Lead and Gold are the only elements capable of absorbing radiation with out becoming radioactive. Nuclear lead is perfectly fine for casting, BUT it is pure lead and by its self makes lousy bullets (way too soft). Alloy it up with Antimony and Tin and you are good to go

I've worked in the nuclear power industry for over 14 years.

    And me since 1988.

Those are most likely shipping or storage containers for radioactive sources used in calibration of instruments or shipping/storage of nuclear medicine.
I have 1/2 dozen 6" tall, 4" in diameter vaults that I snagged from a chemo clinic and use as tarp weights.

My wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and stage 3A lung cancer - we're going through chemo at the moment, with radiation to come.

Here's a prayer and hope for the best for you, the wife and family.

Elemental lead is basically inert and it isn't readily metabolized by normal humans, or ducks. The problem is more with lead oxide that was used for years in paint and primers for paint. That also means your property that's next to a highway isn't contaminated from tetraethyl lead used as an octane booster.

The pig I have is one of 6 I used to have, but some of them have become bullets!

Exactly. I was once a certified lead inspector in the construction world.

Absorbed lead accumulates in the bones and teeth in humans, and its up to no good.

That's why many bullet packages tell you to wash your hands after handling.
