My model 1 upper has been great, BUT, I only have a little less than 1K rounds through it.
@ jsimmons, the only special tool you need is a $20.00 AR15 combo wrench, then a couple punches, a light hammer and a rubber mallet. I was surprised at how easy it was.

If you want to build one, completely disassemble yours and then reassemble it.
