Made it out to shoot one more 10 shot group before the kids got home. 318yrds. I'll take it, for stretching the 300blk out to distance. Windham weaponry 300blk with Diamondhead upper. Hornady Black 115g. Wind 4oclock 10mph. Sig 1-4x24... 2moa group.

Seriously. Some very nice shooting here. I have so much to improve upon. I will actually take a picture of my next pistol target.

I'd expect 800-1200 maybe more if I only use it hunting.
    That's reasonable.

I remember when the .22-300WSM was something played with by some folks looking for a way to turn 70+ grain monolithic bullets into miraculous deerslayers. Useful barrel life was said to be ~300 rounds.

Folks who have a deep-seated need to see insane numbers from their chrono can still get reamers.

I've got some coyote hunting and gunsmith friends playing around with 6mm saum. They are getting insane speeds from 105 class bullets. Barrel life is only 600 or if you're lucky a little more. Sounds rough but as one pointed out "That's a lot of dead yotes'. " lol.

Results doing test loads in my target AR over the last 2 months. 18 inch stnl hb 1:8 twist from Ground Zero with a 3lb drop in trigger. Cheap bipod and a rear bag. And yes, I still drink coffee when I shoot.

Let me clarify. When I took that top target to the range, I grabbed the wrong bag of ammo and shot the 65gr instead of the 68grn bullets.

Went out today to shoot 5 shot groups for the nay sayers.. two good groups and a group that had two fliers... probably just me.. range 100 yards.. 5.56 remanufactured FMJ from freedom munitions... I'm sure with these pro loads you boys run I could do much better, again, I'm proud of these groups.

    Rifle was Diamondback DB15CCB A LOW END AR-15 with a Vortex 3-9

you can see on the middle image I had two bad fliers.. that's probably just me and my trigger pull being off. The taped over holes are from a mosin, again at 100 yards... minute of man of course.

More often than not, you will only get better groups with handloads for a particular rifle. On some of my test loads, rounds were not even hitting paper. With the same rifle, some factory loads are 2" groups.

Pretty good shooting, none the less.

Barrel twist and bullet weight plays a factor. IIRC, a lighter bullet generally performs better in a 1/9 and a heavier bullet performs better with a 1/7. I may have that backwards though.

My budget AR is a PSA upper with a 1/7 twist. 62gr performs better in both accuracy and precision at 100yds than 55gr does, given the same manufacturer. I haven’t tried anything heavier than 62gr, but it may perform better.

Yeah I've wondered about reloading 5.56 for actual good groups, but dang I am impressed with how this freedom works.

That's right. Heavier/longer bullets need a faster twist.
