I tried to give some love to my '72 vintage Marlin 336 30-30 by shooting it for the first time in years. If I load five rounds in the magazine, two or three will feed okay, then the others get stuck - as in they won't come out of the mag. I've had this happen a couple of times before too. I can stick another round through the loading gate and wiggle the stuck one free. I suppose there is some burr or something in the guts of the thing. The rifle is immaculately clean. Shooting factory core-lokt rounds.

    Any suggestions?

    Gunz are icky.
Pull out the mag tube spring and follower.
    Check/clean the tube.
Probably some gunk or possibly dent causing the problem.

Have you tried a different brand of ammo?

Good question. A guy have me several hundred mixed rounds. They're all Remington and Winchester, but looking at them, they are different bullets. I haven't been able to let it go a specific ammo type, but I'll pay closer attention.

Well, I took as much as I dared apart, lubed it, and cycled a bunch of rounds. Maybe it was just funk on the part that lifts the shells from the mag to the chamber. I figured that Murphy's law would make it fail when I needed a second round in a deer.

    Best of luck!
