I'm in the market for a 45 ACP handgun that is DA/SA with decock (prefer no manual safety). After a tedious internet search, I found the following candidates (some of which are no longer made):

    SIG SAUER P220 series
    SIG SAUER P227 series
    Beretta Px4 Storm
    S&W SW99 (no longer made?)
    H&K HK45 series
    FNH FNX-45
    CZ 97 BD
Colt Double Eagle (no longer made)

This will be for concealed carry, and I'm set on this caliber. I maed the list to try and do some comparisons in the stores and on the range, just wondering if I missed anything else out there. Would welcome opinions if you desire.

    imho:
    - From the list you posted: HK 45c - Compact
    * I prefer the LEM trigger over the DA/SA, but that's personal preference.

I know you said DA/SA, but the Glock is both and neither... and I've carried a Glock 21 for a long time and love it. Don't want to trash your thread if you honestly want the DA/SA, though. From the list, the Px4 is interesting, the FNH IS SEXY, but there's also the older S&W 4506/4516 series if you can find them.

Best for carry IMHO in this order: p245, p220 compact, 457/4513, p220 carry sas, p220 west german, p220R/carry

Don't know how you arrived at that decision, and I will not argue the point, it is your decision.

A 1911 locked and cocked is perfectly safe -- even more so than a Glock.

Round in the chamber, hammer cocked, safety engaged.

Carry in a proper holster ... good to go.

Fnx45 gives you the best of both worlds. You can carry cocked and locked or decocked (and locked, but that's way overkill).
Some fnp's were decocker only IIRC.

Appreciate the input. I already have a M1911A1, hence staying with 45 ACP. I'll add the Ruger to the list, altho appears no longer made.

So does H&K and I'd argue they're a more quality firearm than FNH.

I don't know about concealed carry (I got smaller pistols for that) but my USP Compact Tactical does have its uses :)

How does it have more bang for the buck when they cost similar? I can easily find a USP Compact .45 for close the same price as an FNX and the Tactical models of both pistols cost roughly the same brand new. Although you will pay more on the used market for the H&K 'cause they hold their value

$450 for a used FNX9 VS $650+ used Hk USP?

The FN guns come with a Blackhawk/Eagle style soft case, milled and drilled slide for a red dot, tall night sights, milstd 1913 rail, 1 more larger capacity magazine (for a total of 3), and a thread protector for the same price. I suck and HK hates me because I own so many of them, but have to admit that's a lot of bang from FN.

I got 2 of the free HK marked soft cases that used to come with their guns a loooooong time ago, they don't any more. All the new HKs come in a crummy little black box. The old HK cases pop up from time to time on gunbroker for $200-300. It's absurd. The sights on my USP CT and HK45CT are short ones, the Mark 23 sights aren't night sights. I had to buy thread protectors separately for all of them, and also rail adapters for the Mark 23 and USP. Add in the price of a mount or milling the slide for a red dot. It would cost you significantly more to outfit an HK with what the FN comes with.
