I am having trouble finding decent brass for 45 Colt. New is fine. But not Starline brand. Once fired brass would be good too. So far any decent brass I have found is overpriced, probably because it's hard to find. Anyone know of a decent source for 45 Colt brass? Even better would be a good local source near Springtown (west of Fort Worth).

    Thanks.

First, I don't know your definition of "overpriced". Prices are all over the place, obviously. Ruling out Starline (I'm curious about that, btw.) sorta limits your options. If you were willing to buy that brand, you could get all you want for less than $30/100, new. You could also consider looking for once-fired .454 Casull and trimming them to length.

With that said, a bit of googling produces the following.

Fired, no guarantee about headstamp -

    100 for $38 - Once-Fired-Brass
100 for $25 - Once Fired Brass For Sale

    New -

50 .460 S&W that can be cut down for $36 - Hornady Reloading Brass 460 S&W Mag Box of 50
    100 Hornady for $41.39 - https://www.wholesalehunter.com/product.asp?productid=7836

There's a lot of the stuff on auction sites.

Auctions with set "Buy it Now" prices:

500 Remington brand, nickel, for $160 - Remington 45 Long Colt Brass 500 Nickel Cases NEW : Reloading Supplies at GunBroker.com
50 Remington for $45 - Remington 45 Long Colt Brass 500 Nickel Cases NEW : Reloading Supplies at GunBroker.com

Auctions that will end up who knows where:

98 Fiocchi - 45 long colt Fiocchi brass 45 LC : Reloading Supplies at GunBroker.com
100 Winchester - 45 long colt Winchester brass 45 LC : Reloading Supplies at GunBroker.com
100 Magtech - 45 long colt CBC brass 45 LC : Reloading Supplies at GunBroker.com
249 mixed headstamps, mostly Win or Rem - Lot of 249, 45 Long Colt Used Brass Winchester : Reloading Supplies at GunBroker.com

Given your stated criteria, I'd jump on that lot of 500 new nickeled Remington cases for $160 (+shipping/taxes) and consider myself stocked up for a good while.

I had 100 rounds of starline brass. random selection of about 7 or 8 required using both hands and lots of muscle to run brass through the resizing die. Trashed the whole 100.
