I'm looking to get into some clay shooting, would like a decent semi auto to do it with.

Looking for a good deal on something like a Mossberg 930 all purpose or a screaming deal on something like a beretta a300/390 or an affinity.

Local is best, I'm in north Austin but willing to drive

it will be used for clays and some occasional dove....that is about it. As long as it will cycle target loads and hunting loads without much turn around I will be happy

    I have a mossberg 500 for HD :)

(yes I know that I can use my 500 for clays and dove...but then I don't get to buy a new gun)

I am a fan of the Remington 1100. Pick up a used one, put a few inexpensive parts in it and the gun will outlive you. Not content to just rebuild them, I ordered brand new factory stock sets from Remington and the shotguns even look terrific!

    Check out these prices:
    entire piston assembly...$20
piston seals..$6 per package of six.
    Mainspring/bolt recoil spring ...$6
    Bolt buffer....$4
    extractor...$15
    Magazine spring.....$6

I heartily second Roger's comments about the Remington 1100. I have used one 1100 for Skeet, Trap, Hunting, and 3 Gun Matches and it never let me down. The availability of various barrels is still good and parts are plentiful and cheap.
