I'd go AGM for budget & Pulsar to get a little bit more bang for your buck. I have field tested a AGM RATTLER TS35 X 640 resolution VS a Pulsar XQ38... with 384 resolution. The XQ38 will give better detail even though it is 384 resolution. It will give a AGM with 640 resolution a run for its money.
No personal experience with Pulsar, but I have heard the qc has dropped a bit... its one of the things that pushed me to AGM

The more I hear about Thermal the more I love my Varmint light. ;)
Maybe, but one you try it you'll understand... it is.

Hunting with a light at night is exponentially better than no light.

Hunting with NV is (IMO) exponentially better than hunting with a light...

Scanning and hunting with thermal is, if not exponentially better than hunting with NV, at least several big steps ahead...

If my life depended on getting a kill at night whether animal or human, I would go for thermal hands down in nearly every conceivable case and in the few others it would likely be a draw between thermal and NV..

Any retailers on here? Any own one under $3500 they would recommend?
would be used primarily around 50 to 100 yards. My place is heavily wooded so won’t be shooting distance, and plan to hunt lots of swine. I searched older threads and wasn’t sure if anything new came out at the shot show this year.
    thanks for any input.
I have long had the same question.

Read the thread. Pretty much answered them all.

    Yes, I did.

My reply was intended to indicate that there probably is a large market for a relatively inexpensive hi-tech night scope intended for medium ranges, 50 to 150M.

Whoever is able to make the best lower-price unit will likely reap a bonanza, as the market is there.

On a South Texas hog hunt a few years back, I met a Houston bunch with a utility trailer filled with feral hogs. They proudly showed-off their $30K AR 10’s outfitted with silencers and massive night-vision/thermal scopes.

Few of us will spend $30K on a rifle.

Does the AGM Rattler clip-on require (or need) illuminated reticle? My scopes don't have lights.
