Its not a legit blow to the "Drug War" because he will be replaced if they get him to the states and lock him up. If not, he'll operate behind bars until they bust him out. The "Drug War" isnt a war at all either. Its as simple as supply and demand. If the demand from us goes away, the supply dries up. No one invests money in shit that doesn't sell.

That's gonna happen right after never. People have been using drugs since before recorded history. You'd have just as much luck telling people to stop soliciting prostitutes.

This whole war on drugs could be won if we just decriminalized pot.

Make it as easy to buy as a six pack of beer.

Hold abusers responsible for their actions.

It is not a gateway drug, and no more so than alcohol.

I'm so damned old I would welcome a little pot to steady my restless nerves just before I go to bed.

    Agreed on all points.

Him being arrested and taken out of the game will put a damper on things, but the real hit is that 22 billion they found! It looked like they were burning it in that last pic, but I hope I'm wrong. They need to put that into the US deficit.

The internet is full of rumors.. There's word about the person in custody being a decoy, someone who looks just like Guzman. Other rumors indicate he has been killed while in custody..

It's hard to believe any sources, for any type of news. Just remember that the media reports what people want to believe. The US government is in bed with the cartels, the cartels are deep in bed with U.S. authorities, the DEA makes deals with cartels for numerous reasons, which we will never know. Because it's not in their interest to have well informed masses. We are left out of the picture.

I think El Chapo is still out there and if he is really under custody, someone else has filled his shoes already, his sons have warned of extreme violence via twitter. So, who knows... We'll see..

I agree on all except the gateway idea.

I think if you smoke pot you're more likely to try other drugs. How many people say I drink and then tried crack ? Vs I smoked pot than went to crack.

I think the gateway idea really depends on the user.

I've known people, in my younger years, who couldn't function without cannabis.

I've known people who tried it once and hated it. I've also known people who became addicts upon their first hit of green... >.<

Personally, it's not my thing. So, to each their own. The "gateway" argument is a helpful one for people to completely demonize the substance.
