    Probably not widely known these days, but Reed had a profound effect on rock back in the day. Someone once said that an early album of his only sold 200 copies, but everyone that bought one went out and started a band.

    Wild Side was about real folks at a club owned by Andy Warhol. How many covers are there for Sweet Jane? Dozens, at least. Great song.

    Call me crazy but I actually liked what I heard of the Metal Machine Music album.
