Did a search and couldn't find the answer. How far out from my CHL/LTC expiration date can I log on to renew? I have logged on to the DPS website but don't have the option yet.

Don't know the answer to your question but I think license renewal costs are supposed to decrease come Sept. 1st - at least that's what I recall the new law has scheduled.

Yep I've set a reminder to renew Sept 1st myself :)
If you can do it before 9/1 you should.

I was at my LTC instructor renewal class this week and the DPS people stated it was a ghost town in their offices right now, but fully expected to be slammed for months after the reduced fees go into effect on 9/1.

They expect to be backed up for a while.

As long as the website is up, and the kids don't stand in between me and the computer, I don't expect much of a wait :)

Just as Hoji stated, it is 6 Months. The only source I can give you is my experience. Received my renewal letter about 6 months out. Only w/in that 6 months was there a renewal link when logging into my account (There was no such option when I had logged in before that).

I got my renewal letter almost 6 months 'to the day' before my renewal (birthday) in 2018.
I completed online and have not heard back that more info was required. I'm guessing all is good.

FWIW, I got my renewal letter 6 months from my birthday, waited until Sept 1 for the rate to go down, renewed online, and received it in the mail quite a while back - well before my birthday.
