So.....are you are asking him to produce a...........BOS? lol....

    Hmmm........LOL!
I could possibly see a POS Universal go for that in the 70’s!

But an "arsenal rebuilt", in mint condition for $100? In 2010? I seriously doubt that.

Back in about 2012, or 2013, I ran across an M1 Carbine, that someone stuck into a "sporterized" Monte Carlo stock, (yes, looked like crap!) that other than the stock, looked to be in decent condition. The gun store had a price tag on for $725 IIRC. I didn't like or want the aftermarket stock, and I figured I'd have at least $900 in it after replacing the stock with an OEM equivalent stock and hardware. I was going to buy it for my father, but I ended up getting him a Mossberg 500 instead.

$100 for an M1 Carbine in 2010? Really? I'll bet you $100 bill that an M1 carbine hasn't been sold for $100 in the last fifty years!

Prove me wrong. Just another one of your tall tales again.
If you peruse classifieds, garage sales, estate sales and even Craigslist you can come across smoking deals. Just have to read between the lines. I scored 3 sealed cans of 1930’s .45 acp at a garage sale for ( if I remember correctly ) $30. This was in 1997 or 1998.
Bought an Enfield Jungle Carbine for under $100 at a garage sale.
if you are retired, or have a job that gives you every other month off( think offshore drilling work) it leaves one with enough time to find cool stuff cheap.

There is a guy on ARFCOM that finds the hugest scores by wandering in garage sales and pawn shops in Virginia.

They are out there. Most don’t have the time or patience to look for them

Probably 15 years ago a guy my dad knew called him and said he had a Winchester M1 carbine for sale since it wasn't "his thing" I bought it for $500 and still though that was a bit high. When I got there to pick it up it was a first year production that had not been updated in any way. I can't imagine what it would sale for now.

I have one of those POS Universal M1 Carbine. I have not fired it since I got it about 8 or 10 years ago. Got it with a bunch of other firearms as a 'bundle-deal'.

I kept it by the shop door overlooking the goat barn but I replaced it with a Rossi Interarms 92 in .357.

Maybe I should take it out of storage?
Maybe sell it and put the money towards a 'real' one?

I bought a Plainfield carbine made in the 70's for around $300 about 15 years ago. Its not really military, but its a good shooter. I found old ads online for those for under $100.

I wanted a "real" military one, but they were going for around $600-800 even back then.

    Out here by the lake!
The last M-1 carbine I owned I bought from my buddy who is heavy into them. It was totally correct with nice cartouches. Paid him $600.00 for it 20 years ago. It came with a bolt tool, sling, oiler, magazine pouch with 3 magazines.

Someone gave him an armorers rack and he decided that he wanted to fill his rack. So being friends I sold it back to him for what I paid.

I hate to gloat! LOL! My brothers son who lived with his mom after a divorce was going to hock the M1 carbine his grandfather on his mom's side brought back from Korea. His step father told me and I told him that I would give 20 bucks more than any pawn shop would offer him just to keep it in the family. I now have a tight, mint, Underwood M1 carbine that I gave 300 dollars for. The kid has since died of a drug overdose. The M1 will be in my gun safe when I die.
