    I do not think it was an HOA. Many cities have ordinances that you have to maintain your property in a reasonable manner. Last place I lived you could not park a boat or car on the grass next to the driveway. You had to have concrete, asphalt or gravel. Also cars could not be parked on the street for more than 7 consecutive days. and no car repair in the driveway.

    LOL. Apparently this is not an open/shut case as strong consideration is given for those who defend their property from trespassers.

    More like the formal charges hadn't been filed yet because he was just booked in? Police were escorting a city work crew to cut the tall grass after he hadn't responded to fines. You can see he's got foot-tall grass in front. Wasn't an HOA crew he took shots at, but city code compliance people. I'm betting courts fall with the city on this one, and there's no trespassing defense he can use. You can't use lethal force against simple trespass, at least in the daylight.

    The guy is probably off his nut. That's probably also why none of his neighbors stepped up and said something like "Hey, Bob - let me help you with that front lawn" which would probably take all of ten minutes to mow with a push mower.
