Just had to get it on lay-a-way... it is still on lay-a-way. It's an old one made in 68 or so (much like my Marlin 336 Texan in 30/30.)

Ordered a Lyman steel receiver sight for it.... and now pineing away for Christmas!

If the steel Lyman sight works... my Texan 30/30 will get the same treatment (it has a skinner but I don't like it.)

And being a reloader, I have LeveRevolution powder!! Yea 170gr 30/30 slugs at 2400 fps and 220 .35 slugs at 2300 fps. That ought to do the job!

    Pictures soon!!!

Leverevolution with a Sierra 170 grain FP in a 30-30 will blow through a 177 lb hog.

It was a running shot taken at about 25 yards.

Post up some pics of those Marlins when you can. I’m sure others here besides me would love to see them.

Got 'em photoed.. Texan's SN is AA 66xxx... hence 1965! And the .35 is 1968!

Next is to replace that Skinner with the Lyman... and if all works well do the same to my .35.

Very nice. What is it in particular you don’t like about the Skinner sight?

Lack of windage adjustment. This Skinner fits in one of the Texican's holes on the receiver... you have to drift the front sight and I don't want that. Thus the 66A Lyman below will look just like this (but shown is a Winchester 94!)

Well now that makes perfect sense. Hope it works out well for you.

There is a really nice jm 336 in 35 rem priced to sel right now on the forum and the only reason why I am not buying it is bc I cant find projectiles for it

Love em both. I have a 336 from 73 and it became a dream to shoot after replacing the loading gate

    In the woods...
I have several Marlin and Winchester 30/30’s, and one Marlin in .35. The availability of ammo has caused me to consider selling or trading it a few times, but I’m convinced that within 100 yds, the .35 is a better round for deer/hogs than the 30/30.
    Congrats on the score!

Did you know .357 slugs work perfectly. And you can get Hornady XTPs. They make 180 grainers! Hornady lists the maximum recommended velocity for the 180 HP as 1700 fps.

Here is a REAL interesting thread from the Marlin owners forums!

And 250s! But these may very well be to heavy and long for the .35 Remington.

Happy some guys are trading .35 brass with me for other brass... looks like in a few days I'll have hundreds of brass cases!! Yea!!!

Maybe next Dallas gun show I'll go and sniff around for .35 slugs... never know what you will find at those shows!

I now see I need to build up a good stock so I won't have to worry about ammo at all.

I do see I have some 158gr Speer soft point .357s.. might make a dandy hunting load (I noticed Buffalo Bore has a .357 magnum 158gr load that makes over 2000 fps!)

.35 always seemed like seasonal (hunting season) ammo from the major manufacturers. I never could find it on the shelf except right before season opened up and even then it was sparse (and this was before the stupid ammo shortages) and overpriced.

I loved my Marlin .35 (hell, I love all my Marlin's) - but sold it due to the lack of ammo availability and the fact that I don't reload.
Either way, it's a great cartridge that hits harder than the tried & true .30-30.
