It looks like the nickel is peeling on the front of the cylinder. Back in the 70's a lot of my fellow officers carried nickel 28's and nickel troopers, they like the way the red and blue lights flashed off of them at night. Plus officers back then carried something nice out of a throwback to the gunslinger days. The 28 is one hell of a gun, almost indestructable.Found this today. Looks like a nice one and from what I can tell may be a bit rare. Model 28 Highway Patrolman in a nickel finish. Serial number is S 183XXX.
Anyone know what this is? I cant fine any info on a nickel model 28.

A model 28, by definition, is carbon steel. The model is stamped on the gun.Forgive my stupidity but how can you tell it is nickeled and not stainless?
I’m use to it.This was 2008 or 2009, and the guy wanted $350 for a 4' blued 28.
