WTS (McKinney) $2,800. Master Piece Arms precision switch lug 6.5 creedmore rifle

Today I am sadly selling a gun that was bought with the best intentions but has been sitting collecting dust .

I was looking to getting into long range shooting, but with a new job time has been tight and I just don't have the spare time to start a new hobby right now .

This rifle was bought directly from MPA. it features a "switch lug" that allows your to change barrels with the turn of a torque wrench. This rifle is used by precision rifle competitive shooters .

It is chambered in 6.5 creedmore and the barrel is designed to work with Hornady 140 gr eld ammo. It has a left handed Stiller precision tac 30 action .

A couple of years ago I had one of my Remington 700 bolt action rifles made into a long range custom 6.5 Creedmore rifle. It took about 13 months for the conversion to be made and for me to get it back again.
While I was waiting for the conversion, I bought a new Ruger Varmit rifle in 6.5 Creedmore, just to experiment with the round. It was $395 at a local gun store.
I loaded up some ammo and when out to Elm Fork Shooting Park to practice. Much to my surprise this $395 rifle would routinely produce 1/2"- 5 shot groups at 100 yards. My "custom" conversion will create slightly smaller groups with my ammo, but I have about $2,000 invested in it. The gunsmith said the rifle he built for me was guaranteed to shoot sub 6" groups at 1,000 yards. Hell at my age I can't see a target at 1,000 yards.

The reason I bought this specific rifle is that with the switch lug, you can literally change the 6.5 creedmore barrel for, let's say, a 223 barrel in less that 2 minutes. Throw the 223 bolt in there and you can practice with your competition rifle with much cheaper ammo . Or, once you shoot your barrel out, you call MPA who has the barrel info saved and they can send you a barrel fitted to your rifle without having to go through the usual pain of rebarreling .

Before this though I was looking very hard at some other 6.5 creedmore rifles, there are a lot of great options these days at all different price ranges .

What 6.5 ammo are you shooting?

I load my own. I use Hornady 147gr ELD bullets. I have tried several powders, it seems like the most accurate loads are with H4350. I use various cases. Reload five times then put the cases in the recycle.
