I'm probably 15-20 miles away as the crow flies and I can see the smoke at my house. Was 60% controlled yesterday, now 20%. This thing is getting a little rough. I'm not sure I'd it has hit Mico yet but they've been ordered to evacuate.

    Y'all be safe.

I have a friend just northeast of the fire; a bit northeast of MICO. He says that after it jumped the Medina, it was within 2.5 miles of his house, but despite reports, he thinks it is under control, and though packed and ready, he doesn't think they will have to evacuate.

Don't make much sense to me.
But I'm neither a pilot or a firefighter.

    Y’all got the big equipment.

It’s going to get worse in our area before it gets better. As wet as last year was, lots of new growth that went dormant for the winter is now dry as can be and that’s on top of the damage done by the winter storm and an expected persistent drought for the year.

Time for a mowing ban... There isn't anything to mow except dead grass anyway!

    In the woods...
Wow. I'm near Lufkin, and while I've had some rain, the last six months have been unusually dry.

I spent lots of time on Medina Lake when I was living on the west side of San Antonio. It's a beautiful lake and Lackland MWR ran a campground near the dam. That was back in the 90's. Good times, those.

Sad to hear about the fires and praying they get some relief.
