The author of the book "The Lone Survivor" will be in Tyler, TX Sat. April 23 for the opening of a new gun shop, Superior Firearms @ 4520 South Broadway. I don't have any affiliation with any of it, but I thought some people in the area might like to know. If I've broken any rules, I'm sorry, and you can delete the post.

    Helotes!
Plus, I've read too many contradictions to what he wrote in his book. It made for a great movie, but it was far from a documentary...

I'm one to take it easy on a guy who is a disabled veteran and served our country, a hero in my opinion. But the publicity, the book that was initiated by the Department of Defense, and all the hero worship, just puts me off.

    You guys are harsh.
Luttrell was twisted into saying something out of context.

    http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/...rcus-luttrell-obama-executive-action-guns.cnn

He pretty much agreed that if you are a certified nut you maybe should not buy a gun.
    So?

I found Obama's Executive Action so lame as to be of "meh" consequence.
Note is was not an executive "Order" which would have carried the weight of law.
It was an executive "Action", carrying nothing more weight than a casual opinion.

Obama is just ineffectual and lame on gun control.
It was nothing more than his photo op of the day.

Luttrell, a hero, was led down a path to be misconstrued.

    Harsh!!!

    Well, that didn't help.

I see it as a very big problem.

You know, I really liked Ronald Reagan over all. He was not much of a friend to the gun community though.

I am probably going to get flamed for this, but here goes.
I don't want people who are found "Not Guilty by reason of insanity" , and people who have been committed to mental institutions (for being a danger to themselves or others) to buy firearms.
Some states have not been entering these verdicts or court orders into the NICS. If Obama's executive action gets states to enter this data, then THIS particular part of the executive action is a good thing. Personally, I think Congress ought to withhold Federal law enforcement funds to states unwilling to submit this data.
I am not saying that any of the rest of Obama's policies on firearms are good, they are not. But the rest of what was announced back then was just a bunch of PR, and had no consequences. What he announced was already in the law, he was simply restating what the ATF already had the authority to do.
If you want crazy people to be able to buy firearms, you have a right to your opinion. (but then again, maybe you're on the list):clown:

I am not a fanboy of Marcus Luttrell, I just saw an ad in the paper, and thought some people would like to know. I can't go, have to work anyways.

He said he supported UBCs. I don't and never will. There's only one way to enforce UBCs and that is registration, another thing I absolutely do not support.
