cà phê đá : I would love to try it.
Depending on where in East Texas you are located means everything. If there is a Vietnamese restaurant your in luck. If not then its do it yourself. Its very simple to make but IMHO you need a Vietnamese coffee maker or French Press coffee maker.

Ingredients French Coffee with Chicory( Cafe Du Monde is pretty common), Sweetened Condensed Milk, hot water, one glass to make it in & a larger glass with ice

I have the Vietnamese coffee makers simply because they were relatively cheap to buy & readily available in the place that I would buy the coffee & sweetened condensed milk, far cheaper then grocery stores.

In rte High Ball glass you pour in your sweetened condensed milk, about 2 inches. In the coffee maker you put 3X the coffee that you would normally use for a cup. The big trick is to put in 1/3 of the coffee then pour just enough boiling water to get it to swell up, giving it time do swell is important. Once its swelled up the add the other 2/3 to the coffee maker. Place the coffee maker on top of the high ball glass & add more hot water & let it steep. Next you added enough water to make a normal cup of coffee. Stir the coffee & sweetened condensed milk together then pour over the ice in the bigger glass. One will get you going 2 even when I was much younger would make my eye balls bounce. I generally drank a can of Coke whenever I drink iced coffees.

Waco has a restaurant called the Clay Pot. Haven't tried it myself, but Viet food lovers tend to like it.

Sorry, but I can't make it this year. Too many family obligations....

Sometime the only fix is the best in an addicts mind. Bryan/ College Station has a few too.

I went from going into parts of Houston that people questioned their safety, to not wanting to drive into Waco or Bryan/ Collage Station simply because of to much traffic & people. I just need to convince a friend that we got to go.

They are both fine as long as you don't go into the city life. Never had a problem in either. Waco is probably the easiest to traverse as long as you manage it with Baylor school traffic.

My biggest reason to hate each is all the trips I made to both taking my wife to the E.R. and spending 10 hours to be told there's nothing wrong then driving home at some stupid hour of the morning.

The first trip to Waco I didn't have a phone holder mounted to use the GPS on the phone. I end up in traffic & construction, with her very sick. Few thing worse the sitting in an E.R. waiting too. Looking around at all the people there , & having to wonder WRF is wrong with them & why are we lumped in with them/

The trick to Waco is to avoid I-35 and use the Loop to get near where you want to go before you take the streets....

Got to thinking (rare for me) that for those coming from the north y’all might wanna take 79 south. Hit 45, go 287 east, find 79 south, then it’s not far. I can help anyone out that needs assistance when the time comes.
The way I go from Garland is......

I take 635 to 20 East all the way to 19/Athens make a right and take 19 to 256 S and stay on it to
FM 322/corner of 256 and 322 is the Palestine Regional Medical center, turn there going beside of the PRMC and keep going for a couple of miles until you get to the stop sign, stop, then cross the street
and his house is the first one on the left.
