If you’re looking for one cal that can do it all, it might have to be 50BMG

6.5 creedmoor is good for paper punching at long distances and small to medium game within 400 yards, unless you are dead set at putting holes in paper at 1000 yards and not putting anything living on the ground at that distance 6.5 creedmoor is your gun. The problem is 308 is more prevelant and cheaper.

This thread encouraged me to stop and count the number of different chambering/calibers I have. And frankly, I was a little surprised since over the years I’ve made a modest attempt to keep ammo purchases limited to what might be considered the more “popular” calibers. Including a couple of different shotgun gauges, I’ve got ten different ammo types that I buy.

In all fairness, at least a couple different calibers are the result of inheritance. And since the firearms were {are} in good working order, I saw no reason to not buy the appropriate ammo and shoot them!

I would include 40s&w. This is only bc there is plenty of it available due to many LEO using the round so it's cheap and available.

Also include 7.63x39. This round is everywhere.

    I think 22lr, 9mm, 40s&w, 45acp(Americans should own at least one 1911), 12g, 5.56/223, 7.62x39, and 308/7.62x51 should keep you covered.

For me, the absolute essentials would be:

    .22LR
    .223/5.56
    9mm
    .357 Mag
    .38 Special
    .30-06
    .44 Mag
    12 gauge

But to be fully stocked for every gun, I'd have to add: .22WMR, .380ACP, .40S&W.
