I have several of the Minox scopes. The newer HD version is a big improvement, clarity-wise, over the first one's I have. I use several with their BDC reticles for shooting out to 1000 yards on a couple of rifles I have.
For hunting, they are a step above some comparably priced optics out there (as you noted). Low-light, they are as sharp as a couple of my older Swarovski's and Leica's I have. I've sold or given away the Leica's now and I'm down to one Swarovski that I won't part with (it was my Dad's).
For the price, they match up as well as the Conquest's I have for less $$$.
I've only had one (of the 9 I have) have to go back and that was for the ocular focus. Fairly quick turn-around on the repair - about 3 weeks. I try and pick them up on sale when I can.
