    I'm not a lawyer and never played one on TV; but as I understand it, if your record is clean of felonies and it's past 5 years since snetencing on the misdemeanors, you are ok in Texas AS LONG as there was no domestic violence, violent actions and you've paid all fines and attended court mandadted courses for Achohol/drug issues. The keywords are violent and the other keyword is Class of Misdemeanor. Those are the caveats that the state can deny you a CHL or even the ownership of a firearm. Contact an attorney in Texas and get the straight scoop and best of luck.

    Close;

    Felonies are permanent disqualifications, unless they were deferreds over ten years ago and were for certain non-violent crimes.

    Class A and B Misdemeanors disqualify for 5 years from date of conviction.

    Disorderly conduct, even class C, disqualify for 5 years from date of conviction

    The Government Code does not require attendance in court mandated anything.

    Violent is not a keyword for convictions other than the ten year felony deferred adjudication.

    Then there is a laundry list of other qualifications that must be met.
