    I thought the "surging" was just you giving it some gas to even it out.

    800ish is about where it will idle for a cam like this. That's what I have it set to. It's a healthy cam, not the largest by any means but pretty good. Texas Speed makes bigger ones (as well as other companies) but I would have had to fly cut my pistons with the milling I had done on the heads. It's within acceptable limits as it is but PtV is close. If, or more likely when, I replace the bottom end, then I can get a REAL cam and stop playing with these whimpy ones. ;)

    I ran a pretty close cam to yours in my M6 Formula (238/240 .605/.609, Comp XE-R lobes), but I had it in a 370cid motor. Idled beautifully, nice, stable and choppy at 700 with a little advance thrown at it.
