Approved "extra" jobs. Nothing like having law enforcement guarding your criminal enterprise.
Yep, we got it the first time.
My question would be, what kind of operation was this? What were the officers told when hired? Most agencies including DPS have a protocol to work off duty. Was this a full blown race track that simply didn't have a license or had an expired license? If this was at a ranch were these officers hired to work as general security at a gate where they never saw what was going on inside? Were they aware that there was unlicensed gambling going on? What was the story they were told by whoever hired them? People hiring officers to work a gate is pretty commonplace. It is also typical that the officer will not know every detail of what is going on inside, especially if the owner had a good cover story or kept the gambling out of view.
It would be very unlikely that so many officers from so many agencies would knowingly conspire guard a criminal enterprise.
As usual, people who despise the media, will believe a story 100% (regardless of how lacking in facts it is) when it comes to a cop that is in trouble.

Perhaps they DID know what was going on. Time will tell. If they DID know they should be held accountable. There is just much more to this story that the pitiful amount of information in this news piece.

We all know there are crooked people in every profession.

All we can do is our own best job and call the scum out when we can.

    Any profession.
