Mosin Nagant + ammo - Austin

Well, this has been sitting in my safe for a couple of years and I have never even taken it out and fired it. Since the safe is filling up I guess it has to go.

It comes with the rifle, bayonet, accessory kit, sling, ~100 rounds of ammo and a bunch of stripper clips.

$200 FTF in North Austin/Round Rock.

I layed down some butcher paper and then used two off camera flashes shot through umbrellas. I bounced a third flash off the paper itself on the left side. They were not quite aimed right which is why it is darker on the right side.

It does not have a hex receiver from what I can tell.

I don't see any cosmoline on it anywhere. How can I check if it is counter bored?

Look into the crown, and see if the rifling was edged back about half an inch.
It means it didn't shoot good groups so they recrowned it in a cheap fashion.
Mosin nagant barrels are pretty plentiful, if you want to put extra money into a 100 dollar rifle.

best way to check for counter bore, take a 54r bullet and see if you can insert it past the oblique? or whatever point its called where the bullet reaches the max width after the point.

Way I see it, the ammo and stripper clips included make it a pretty sweet deal. If it was an M44 i'd be all over it. (already have a 91/30)

Any chance we can get a pic of the date and factory marks? Might get more interest.

I am working on that too
