I picked up a 590s and 590s shockwave earlier this year. Both have ran 100% reliable with everything I put through it.

If it was just me, yes; looks like a good price too. SWTSMBO might not be able to handle it; she might do OK with a 590S. I have a 590, so I'd likely stick with it (with an OpSol adapter).I'd checkout the Benelli Super Nova Tactical. They're under $600 on Gunbroker.

The Shockwave comes in the standard 590 version and the 590S version. The "S" designation refers to it's capability to use the the shorty shells without the adapter. There is about a $100 price difference between the two.I thought the 590S was a Shockwave; I'm looking at Shockwaves. If I weren't, that Benelli looks like a good deal.
Got it, thanks. The Shockwave comes in the standard 590 version and the 590S version. The "S" designation refers to it's capability to use the the shorty shells without the adapter. There is about a $100 price difference between the two.
If you mean the Opsol Mini-Clip for Mossbergs, yes, that fits the non S 590 Shockwave.I prefer the 870s bolt release location, it just feels more natural. I like the Mavericks location too over the 590. Afaik you can buy a modified follower that will allow those shorty shells to feed right.
My 590A1 is on the way back to Mossberg to fix failure to extract from magazine and bind during action cycle. Gun is 1 mo old with approx 200 rounds shot. So far I am not impressed with Mossberg.I have had issues with mossberg, but i would avoid Remington (unless you can find a real nice used older example) for a good while.
It can happen to any manufacturer. Let them fix it and then reassessMy 590A1 is on the way back to Mossberg to fix failure to extract from magazine and bind during action cycle. Gun is 1 mo old with approx 200 rounds shot. So far I am not impressed with Mossberg.
