OK, I went out to Lone Star Gun Range to test out the 930. The only problem I had before hitting the range was with the Choate magazine spring. It was so strong that the rounds would not chamber, they would bind up on the shell stop. I put in the stock Mossberg spring and it fed perfectly.

At the range, 00 buckshot was fired at the 5, 10 and 15 yard markers while slugs were fired at 25. The 930 ate everything from #8 birdshot to 1oz slugs, but my main concern was the Federal Tactical buckshot which it handled just fine. All patterned rounds were fired from a rest except for the slugs. 5 were from a rest and 5 were fired while standing. I did fire off some of the extra rounds using rapid fire to test controlability and see if I could get the gun to screw up. It is a sweet shooting weapon and is ready take on any looters or zombies that head my way!

5 rounds of birdshot, 35 rounds of tactical buckshot and 10 rounds of slugs fed, fired and ejected without any issues. The pellets/slugs seemed to hit a little high since I was placing the bead sight directly in the middle of the -0 circle on the IDPA targets, but I don't think it will cause any problems when used on the bad guys.

I really like this shotgun and love the way it handles. I did have to remove the barrel/mag tube clamp since it shook loose during firing; I guess I didn't have it tightened down enough.

The Gun:

The Range:

Buckshot at 5 yards:

Buckshot at 10 yards:

Buckshot at 15 yards:

Slugs at 25 yards:

i'm also getting a 930 soon in the coming weeks (when it arrives at my ffl); its the one with the 28/18.5" barrel combo

i'll be looking for an extension; is the choate spring that bad? have you tried cutting a few rings off? does the factory spring still work with an extension or is the spring force way too weak because of the short length?

I had to cut the choate spring down to the length of the shorter Mossberg factory spring...yes, it was way too long. The factory spring is not too weak even with the extension on. I am just keeping the choate spring as a spare.
