The technique required doesn't seem like such a big deal.

If you find Clint's voice a little irritating (I'm sure someone does), you can skip to 3:30 and watch about three minutes of the video where he talks about proper technique then demonstrates using the 12ga, 2 3/4, 00 buck load.

Having shot mine with 6 different loads this weekend I'll make a point that I feel is a big deal.

This is a unique gun that carries some unique risks.
He makes a statement, in the above video, pretty clearly.
If the un-practiced do what he is doing teeth WILL get shattered.
In the direst extreme, when your life is threatened, shattered teeth will disorient you and get you killed.

I've stored mine in the safe until I get a good bit of experience with it.
    This weapon requires experience.
    You heard it here first!!!

Most that get sold are because they are trendy and tacti-cool.
Now I know why I've already seen a lot of used ones for sale.

For the bedroom for now the SIG P245 and the Colt Magnum Carry will have to do.
Both have been shot a lot!!

The Shockwave both intrigues and frightens me.
    But that's just me.
Your caliber and milage may vary.

I don't think .338 is a qualifier. I've shot them, and I've had 12y/o kids shooting .50 BMG and handling it just fine.

Not saying you're frail, just saying a better example would be 500 S&W or something.

Also,....yadda yadda tada birdshot for self defense durka durka.

    My 460 S&W rules. I sold my wimpy 500.
    Seriously.

    Just wondering.....

Lotta opinions here, but, anyone else here who has a modicum of experience here with the shockwave or the similar Remmy Tac-14?

Would love input born of experience.

Unless you're being attacked by doves, I would never recommend dove loads for defense... BB pellets at an absolute minimum...and only at extreme close range. As you move up in pellet size, the effective range increases for defense.

But yes, any pistol grip shotty is pretty brutal with full-house loads... I'd rather have a shoulder stock and full loads.
It's NOT a pistol grip. The bird's head grip avoids the massive transfer of energy into the palm of your hand that happens with pistol grips. The technique is to push forward with the pump hand and pull rearward with the trigger hand. It works.

That's why I asked if you could use regular shells with the Tac Sol clip in place.
I don't care what sounds cool, or what anyone else uses.
If options are good, then having one in 20 and 12 must be good, too!
There's NOTHING puny about the Aguila Minishells. the upside is the added shell capacity in the tube. It makes the Shockwave a totally credible defense weapon.

The Shockwave shouldn't be anywhere near your face to put your teeth in peril. Just saying.

I'm under the impression that he's saying the exact opposite - that the gun is safely shootable (even by novices) if you keep it aggressively pushed out in front...which will place is far from the teeth.

Or did I read you wrong?

I made my "shockwave" before the large companies jumped on the band wagon. I also have a papered sawed off double barreled 12Ga.

I guess I am just a beast. There is NOTHING hard or dangerous about shooting them unless you decide to wrap your fingers over the end of the barrel / barrels. I guess if you try and hold it up to your chin you may encounter a problem.

I guess with the cold weather we are going to get lots of snowflakes :)
