MOUNTING a PISTOL SCOPE on a REMINGTON MODEL 8??

Friends,

I'm considering buying a circa WWII Remington Model 8 (FOR CHEAP out of an estate) in .30 REM caliber, with a saddle- leather scabbard for "under leg" carry when astride..
(My "little brother" can make cases for me from .30-30 WCF. - He has a lathe.)

As I no longer, at age 74, see open sights well at all, I'm wondering if anyone makes a scope mount that will fit the current factory screw holes for the rear sight & thereafter mounting a 2-3X pistol scope on the ersatz saddle-carbine.
(As the PO cut-down the barrel to about 17.5" long ago, I'll NOT be ruining a "collector's rifle" by "scoping it".)

With a rifle that has been out of production for over seventy years, your options are very limited for a scope mount.

Only other option I saw was a simple universal Weaver style that is a drill and tap set up
