Moved to East Texas to avoid the Californication of Colorado... was a red state when I moved there 20 years ago, but the left has done a fine job of corrupting the state. The legislation they passed in 2013 (despite all the people against it) was really the writing on the wall I needed to leave. I've held a Concealed handgun permit in Colorado since 2010, and already have my TX LTC (got it before TX Driver's license while I still owned houses in both states- Colorado does not recognize non-resident permits- but TX does)
I work as a network engineer for a telecommunications company- been there a long time, so I now work from my home. I've got 4 kids- a 21yo that's still in Colorado Springs, 2 teenage daughters, and a son in 6th grade.
Started looking for where to move to a few years ago... between Colorado (high desert) and Arizona, I've wanted to be someplace wetter. My family told me Alaska wasn't on the table- I grew up there, but it's not for everyone. Wife loved East Texas- and being close enough to Dallas Metro where we have a testing lab (and lots of jobs if my employer decides to downsize me after 20 years of service) made it a great choice. 6 lakes within an hour of me, all larger than the largest lake in Colorado.
Looking for a place to get more familiar with Texas folks, been very active on a Colorado gun forum since 2006.
