a safe poped up on tgt so i sent an email. I took the day off to get this door fixed and talk to the leasing manager to let us move to an upper apartment to make a smash/grab slower and more difficult for a theif.

OH MAN that's freaking terrible. I know exactly how you feel...happened to me within my first month too. What'd you lose? Hopefully not your guns...I lost my dad's commissioning gift to me, a Walther PPK/S stainless...and a bunch of replaceable electronics.

Also what part of town are you in?

Jeez Joe, sorry to hear about the attempted break-in. You must be around my neighborhood, I'm only 5 minutes from Bass Pro also. Was a relatively quiet area when we moved here 10 years ago but all the development has brought some bad elements with it. Hope they get the scumbags who did it.

They didn't get anything. They gave up i guess?... truly don't know why they stopped?....

But I was at the end of the hallway gun in hand ready for them to come through the door... They stopped kicking then went around the front to the side/patio sliding glass door, tried it real quick then ran off.

    Strange to say the least.

Well...I guess I'm saying this because I wasn't, but it's a good thing you were home. I'd still have the PPK/s and we'd be short a criminal(s?) in San Antonio if I was home.

Glad to hear that you got off relatively scot-free. I recommend FrontPoint Security alarm systems...it's Big Brother-level monitoring (text messages when you open your door level stuff) and definitely the gun safe you're looking for. Also reinforced door jamb with LONG screws, also maybe the steel plate over the lock bolts.

Smash and grab seems to be popular in SA...sucks big time.

Thank you for doing your part to support the Texas economy by way of the retail firearms industry. I would suggest that any self-respecting Texas resident should own at least one lever-action rifle/carbine and one single-action army style revolver. In fact, there might just be a law on the books. ;)

I am sorry to hear about your difficulties regarding the criminal element welcoming you to the neighborhood. That wasn't very neighborly of them. I believe in karma; what comes around will definitely get back around to them.

Welcome and a big "attaboy" to you! I had a chance to work in that rathole called California and passed up on it. I am SOOOOO glad! Been in Texas since 1992 and love it here. Get your CHL and you'll be truly part of things here. The CHL will also help with those pesky door kickers.

To really enjoy your new freedom, take that new iron out and shoot it until the parts fly off of them. Every time you hear a "BANG" or "POW" on the firing line, remember that is the sound of freedom and there are a lot of punks trying to silence that!

Remain ever vigilant to fight those who would take our rights. We remain free only because no one has the balls to take freedom away from us.
