Been pretty busy with Jake's recuperation from his surgery but slipped away to see the "Great Wall" on Monday. It was OK, but this isn't going to be a Rave review.

Two Westerners come in contact with the Chinese military because they figured that the Chinese were less of a threat than the criminals that were chasing them on horseback. Their location was somewhere on the Great Wall of China. They were attacked by a hoard of green meanies that resembled prehistoric monsters with huge teeth.

Our Western friends joined in and fought bravely which gained favor with the Chinese. In battle after battle, the green meanies chewed up hundreds of Chinese who fought with distinction, bravery and with little regard for their own safety.

The action was rinse, lather and repeat with gigantic battles between Chinese on the wall and green meanies trying to get in.

Been hearing a lot about Chinese purchase of significant chunks of the American movie industry and I believe this movie was a direct result of that influence.

The Chinese were depicted as honorable, courageous, honest and patriotic. Westerners were without honor, purpose, loyalty and were told that they were ill mannered ruffians who were offensive and smelled bad. They were ordered to clean themselves up. In battle, the westerners took a back seat to the Chinese, Female General. She was the hero and our kind went along for the ride.

Wow, did we take a hit from this movie! This flick was nothing but blatant propaganda that glorified the Chinese and trashed people like us!

I could be wrong, but the message from this movie was very clear to me! Chinese= good. Westerners= stinky, ruffians who had no honor or loyalty. Geeze..........

There were plenty of violent and gory battle scenes interspaced with deadly boring talking and well.........I dozed in several places.

There was no sexual content. I don't remember any profanity.

I'll give this flick a "C." Can't really recommend it unless you have a desire to see Humans chomped and Green Meanies in wholesale slaughter.

The movie did not pass my doze test and I was glad to see "the end."

    Thanks for the review.

I do know the Chinese can be very picky about which movies they allow to be aired in their country, where there are big bucks to be made.

For this reason a lot of movies cater to them, and considering this one takes place on the wall, and really plays with the history of it, no surprise they got their noses a little brown in trying to ensure government approval.
