My first guess would be that the case wasn't trimmed properly if it was just one (similiar to your round). The crimp on the seating die bulged the case. Ask me how I know what that looks like. It could also be that the seating die wasn't set properly and the factory caught the other rounds that this happened to.

Yeah I think you're right. The telltale score line just above the bulge looks like a sure indication of improper trimming...

I've had bad luck with winchester bulk ammo. I buy it for the price but have had several bad rounds in it. One was a round that had been peeled down the casing so there was no powder left in it. Others double feed due to bad powder not pushing my slide back far enough.

What I guess is that the rd may have been from another run and somehow got knocked on the floor and someone picked it up or could have got stuck in the line somewhere and someone pulled and stuck it in the box.

That doesn't explain the weird crimp, though...

Am I the only one that thinks that would have chambered?
OAL looks about right, and no diameter bulge?

Maybe, but God only knows what the pressure increase would be with that bullet set waaay back into such an extreme crimp.

That was my concern too. In fact, if you look closely you'll see that the crimp has tapered in pretty far over the ogive... probably well past safe pressure limits.

The pressure spike would have made it scary - Primer blown out? No telling what would have happened.
