    Preparing a small resource of food and water since the political climate this fall looks unstable. What is the opinion of MREs? The ones on Ebay are very expensive. Perhaps the supermarket canned and packaged items would be less costly and better quality?

    what about a military surplus store? The ones we had in the service were pretty decent, and came with skittles or M&M's, sometimes a tootsie roll or something along those lines

    After I read your post, I checked prices on eBay for MREs. They're actually not too bad. In the Military Commissary where we shop (Shepard AFB), they want almost $8 for one MRE.

    Of course, back when I was on Active Duty, we could buy a case of them from the Supply Dept. for $14. :(
